MIX is run by volunteers and paid for by the people who show up. There is no grant behind it and no membership fee — just a bank account that has to cover the room, the insurance, the website and the coffee before anyone can walk through a door.
Between last year’s picnic and this one that account took in $7,082 and spent $4,353, ending the year about $2,729 ahead. Most of it went to gatherings and the things gatherings need — the venue, the permits, the insurance, the supplies — and the rest kept the website, the email and the paperwork running.
Your gift keeps what we have built — the gatherings, the resources, the doors that stay open to anyone who needs them — and then it helps us grow: more events in more parts of town, the education programming members keep asking for, and new ways to reach the people who have not found us yet. A little from a lot of us is steadier than a lot from a few, and it is the difference between planning a year and hoping for one.
